Every Monday, I share 1 question for you to contemplate, 1 idea from me, 1 quote from others, and 1 inspiration for us.

This week’s topic is: Continuation

For the first time this year, I really struggled to come up with a topic for this week’s article. I brainstormed ideas, did some research, reviewed some suggestions, re-read my article on inspiration, but nothing felt right. When I started to think that maybe I should skip this week’s blog, I finally got the spark for a topic: continuing what I started.

One Question for you

With each turn of the wheel, you go further. With each turn of the wheel comes continuation.

Discuss the question here.

One Idea from me

There are many strategies for motivating yourself to persevere when giving up seems like the only choice. This week I share three tips and practices on how you can continue what you started when you have no inspiration nor motivation.

Remember why you started. Think back to the moment that your project, goal, or concept was conceived. Do you remember your goal and the motivation behind it? Do you remember the joy and thrill of the adventure ahead? Going back to the beginning brings focus on the purpose of your endeavor. The memory of anticipation of the job accomplished is stimulated again when you start to reflect on the reason you began in the first place. This week, pause, breathe in deep and recall your purpose.

Give up trying to be perfect. Perfectionism is a double-edge sword. On one hand, it can motivate us to produce high quality results. On the other hand, it can hold us back, cause unnecessary anxiety and slow us down. If you find yourself stuck trying to find the “perfect topic”, I invite you to try to shift your focus on finding meaning in what you do, rather than trying to do it perfectly. To help with this, you can reflect on the following questions: How can you harness the positives of your perfectionism while mitigating the negatives? What measures or practices can you use to keep your perfectionism in check? What can you leave unfinished or imperfect today?

Celebrate your progress. This week I invite you to take stock of all your milestones and progress that you have already achieved and refer to it when you need inspiration or motivation to keep going. Take a piece of paper and make a list of the new things you learned, the new discoveries you made about yourself and the world, the strengths you demonstrated along the way. Accept these facts, acknowledge the development you have already experienced and allow them to serve as inspiration to continue in your quest.

One Quote from others

“Perhaps it was not a destination I sought, but merely a continuation”. Ocean Vuong

One Inspiration for us

This week I share a short extract from the book 365 Tao written by Deng Ming-Dao. Enjoy!

Upon completion comes fulfillment.

With fulfillment comes liberation.

Liberation allows you to go on.

Even death is not a true ending.

Life is infinite continuation.
